As victim of a crime, you have rights. However, you have frequently to demand your rights on your own. Please contact the Stiftung Opferhilfe (Foundation for Victim Assistance), which will provide quick and non-bureaucratic support free of charge. During personal talks, victim supporters will give you useful information as to how you can assert your rights. Volunteer workers of the WEISSER RING e.V. (a non-profit victim protection organization) will also provide support.
After a crime, some victims need a particularly intense professional assistance. The psychosocial court assistance provides comprehensive assistance during the investigative and criminal proceedings and in all areas of life which have been affected by a crime. The psychosocial court assistants will accompany you in your everyday life, inform you about the course of the investigative and criminal proceedings, accompany you when you make a report and support you when you prepare mentally for the contact with the perpetrator during the hearing.
